Landfill Monitoring and Sampling

SOUTH LEE, MA
RED personnel perform monitoring well gauging and sampling, landfill vent and landfill perimeter gas monitoring and reporting services semi-annually at a closed landfill facility in South Lee, Massachusetts. This location previously served as solid waste disposal areas for sludge and residual materials resulting from MeadWestvaco paper manufacturing processes. The disposal locations were closed in accordance with MADEP solid waste regulations.
RED personnel have been conducting the monitoring activities at this site for the past twelve years. Under this contract, RED personnel are responsible for coordination and shipment of samples to an approved environmental testing laboratory, assessment of analytical results, and compilation of required regulatory reports on a semi-annual basis
Wetland Remediation
CLIENT: City of Waterbury, CT

JONATHAN E. REED ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WETLAND REMEDIATION
RED was contracted by the City of Waterbury to provide wetland remediation services of contaminated sediment to a 0.8-acre area of wetlands and waters. As part of the scope of work, RED developed a site-specific Health and Safety Plan and a Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCB) Compliance Plan for submittal and review by the City of Waterbury, the project consultant, and the EPA.
Key services performed by RED included:
► Removal of contaminated sediment to a depth of 4.5 to 8.0 feet below wetland surface
► Diversion of Great Brook
► Dewatering of PCB-impacted water
► Removal of the 40-foot wide by 4-foot high Griggs Street Damn
► Installation of a step pool and associated reestablishment of disturbed wetland and riverine habitat approved by the Army Corps of Engineers
Former Mallory Hat Factory Environmental Remediation
CLIENT: City of Danbury, CT

MERCURY-IMPACTED SOIL REMEDIATION
RED was contracted by the City of Danbury to provide environmental remediation of the former Mallory Hat Factory site.
Remediation included the excavation of approximately 5,200 tons of petroleum and mercury-impacted soils within various locations on the site, on-site soil stockpiling and management, off-site soil disposal at licensed disposal facilities (including disposal facility approvals, truck loading and transportation to disposal facility), removal of two, partially buried steel 10,000-gallon fuel oil tanks, and installation and maintenance of erosion and sedimentation controls in the work areas. Work will also included pumping, settlement, storage, and disposal of petroleum-impacted groundwater within the tank area.
